RESIDENTS are being warned to be on their guard after a six foot long Boa Constrictor escaped from its owner.

The deadly snake escaped from the bathroom window of a home in Barnfield, Wickford.

Although the reptile’s bite is not poisonous constrictors do bite if attacked and wrap themselves around their prey, crushing them to death.

However the missing snake is not fully grown and has been described as a “danger to small animals” by its owner.

Essex Police’;s wildlife liaison officer has consulted speacialists and the RSPCA over the missing snake.

Anyone who spots it should call 999 immediately and not go near the animal.
