BasVegas or as it is occasionally known, the Festival Leisure Park is located just outside of Basildon town centre which is 25 miles east of central London.

(Locals refer to the whole of Basildon as Bas Vegas too)

History

Basildon was designated as a new town after World War II in 1948 to accommodate the London population overspill and has gone from strength to strength ever since.

Recent Highlights

In September 2010, the Queen gave Basildon borough status and a mayor!

In March 2010 Basildon paid homage to the infamous Hollywood sign by creating a much better one situated on the Basildon exit of the A127. (More pictures)

In 2008, the toilets in the Eastgate shopping centre were voted the best in the UK, beating some 1,700 other entries from businesses and Government departments.
