Spy camera found in toilet of Fitness First

POLICE have launched a probe after a secret spy camera was found concealed in the changing room of a popular gym.
The camera was set up directly facing a toilet and would have filmed gym users changing.One member of Fitness First in Festival Way, Basildon, said they were outraged that, after overhearing staff talking about the sinister discovery, members of the gym have yet to be officially told.
The fitness centre has now reported the incident to police who are investigating.
The camera, which is cleverly disguised as a wall hook for towels and clothes, was found in the disabled toilet by staff.

Man left with bleed on brain after attack

A MAN was left with a bleed on the brain following a brawl at Festival Leisure Park on Saturday 12 January 2013.
The 21-year-old man from Ilford had been enjoying a night out when he was punched to the ground.
He struck his head, suffering a bleed on the brain, a black eye and a cut to the back of his head.
Police have now released CCTV of a man they are hunting in connection with the attack.

Man found dead in van at Festival Leisure Park

A MAN was found dead in a van at Festival Leisure Park on Thursday evening. (17 Jan 2013)
Police, Fire and Ambulance services were called to the scene on Cranes Farm Road at 8.05pm following reports of concern for a 50-year-old man.
Paramedics subsequently declared the man to be dead after discovering him in a van. Police are not treating the death as suspicious and the coroner has been informed.

Two Men Hurt In McAssault
Dec 24th

Two men have been injured, one seriously, after they were assaulted in Basildon.
It happened near McDonalds on the Festival Leisure site early yesterday morning Sunday December 23rd.
The two victims, who are in their 20s, were walking across the car park when they were assaulted by three men.
Essex police believe there had been an earlier altercation between the two groups. One of the victims was punched and fell unconscious to the ground with face and eye injuries.
He is still receiving hospital treatment. His friend was also punched and suffered cuts and a broken tooth but was not detained in hospital.
Fire at Liquid and Envy

MORE than 1,000 people were evacuated from a Basildon nightclub after a fire broke out in the early hours of the morning. (Sun 04 Nov 2012)
Four fire engines and police rushed to Liquid and Envy, on the Festival Leisure Park, just before 2am following reports of a blaze.
Flames were found ripping through the ceiling of a stage area on the clubs first floor.

Update: Liquid and Envy club fire sparked by angle-grinder act. – BBC
An angle-grinding stage act caused the fire in an Essex nightclub on Sunday, the club said.
It is understood the nightclub had featured podium dancers, fire breathers and angle-grinders during the night.

Two men injured in Bas Vegas attack

ONE man was bottled and another was punched and kicked in a violent brawl at Festival Leisure Park.
The two men had been enjoying a night out at the entertainment complex on Saturday (04 August 2012) when a fight broke out.
A 24-year-old man from Rayleigh was hit with a bottle while another man was punched and kicked leaving him with a broken jaw.

Father and son injured at JJ’s

THUGS stamped on a man’s leg until it broke and punched his son unconscious in a horrific nightclub attack.
The 41-year-old was attacked when he criticised a reveller for smashing a pint glass on the dancefloor at JJ’s at Basildon’s Festival Leisure Park.
His son, who tried to step in and save his dad, was punched in the face and knocked out.
The attack happened at 12.45am on Sunday June 17, 2012

Man suffers broken wrist after brawl

A MAN suffered a broken wrist and facial injuries following a fight at a nightclub.
The man, who is in his 40s, was at the Chicago Rock Cafe at Basildon’s Festival Leisure Park when the trouble broke out at 1.30am on June 2, 2012.

Teenager raped after night out
May 17th

A TEENAGER was raped on her way home from a night out at Basildon’s Festival Leisure Park.
The 18-year-old woman was walking home when the attack happened between 2am and 4am on Monday. (14 May 2012)
The teen was walking in the underpass – which runs under Cranes Farm Road toward Ghyllgrove – when the man grabbed her and raped her.
Update 21 Aug 2012:
Curtis Pizzey, 23, of Barnard Close, Basildon, pleaded guilty to carrying out the attack on the 18-year-old girl and will be sentenced next month.
Update 14 Sep 2012:
Curtis Pizzey has been jailed for six years for raping a teenager as she walked home from a night out in the town.

Festival Wakeboard Park opens
May 10th

Visitors watched wakeboarders perform flips and spins at the Festival Wakeboard Park at the former Aquatels lake behind Basildon’s Festival Leisure Park.
The park’s action-packed grand opening took place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.Crowds watched pro-riders perform stunts and visitors also enjoyed music and entertainment and were able to book special introductory sessions for the adrenaline-fuelled watersport.
